Step 2. Verify Your ID

As a mail recipient, you must give your mail operator authorization to receive your mail.

As a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) following U.S. Postal Regulations, your mail operator must verify your identity before starting mail handling services, for any renter.

You will need:

  • A device with a camera 📷 (laptop, desktop, or mobile phone).

  • Two (2) identification documents. Find below the United States Postal Service accepted forms of ID.

ID 1: Photo ID

ID 2: Address ID

  • U.S. State/Territory/Tribal Driver’s or Nondriver’s ID Card *

  • Uniformed Service ID

  • U.S. Access Card

  • U.S. University ID Card

  • Passport

  • Matricula Consular

  • NEXUS Card

  • Certificate of Naturalization

  • U.S. Permanent Resident Card

  • U.S. State/Territory/Tribal Driver’s or Nondriver’s ID Card *

  • Current Lease

  • Mortgage or Deed of Trust

  • Home or Vehicle Insurance Policy

  • Vehicle Registration Card

  • Voter Card

For the next and final step, you need to sign USPS's 1583 Form:

A.) Sign your 1583 Form electronically through the platform.

  1. After you’ve verified your 2 IDs and answered the additional questions, you can now review your 1583 form. After review, click Next.

  2. Add your signature in the box below Sign Here and click Sign and Submit.

B.) Or you can manually fill out and sign the 1583 form, found here, and deliver it to your operator for them to upload.
