Renter's Compliance Process in PilotoMail

Learn how to verify the identity of your renters using PilotoMail.

Updated over 5 months ago

For a CMRA (Commercial Mail Receiving Agent) to comply with USPS regulations, the renter must give a CMRA authorization to accept and handle their mail. This CMRA must also verify and confirm a renter's identity to accept their mail.

To complete the process, a renter must provide their CMRA with two IDs and fill out a form (1583 Form).

Where can you complete the compliance process?

💻 Desktop: Chrome, Firefox, and Edge are the recommended browsers.

📱 Mobile: To complete compliance on mobile, download our exclusive app for renters, Mailbox by PilotoMail, available on Android and iOS. For a better mobile experience, do not use mobile browsers to complete compliance or manage mail.

Submit Compliance Documents

Option A: Using PilotoMail's ID validator

This verification flow will require two photo IDs and a couple of selfies from the user.

🚨 Mail managers and authorized recipients receiving mail at your location would need to follow the ID verification process.

1. Upload 2 types of identification documents.

📌 Note: Our automated ID Verification Process can only be completed with IDs that include a photograph of the renter. If a renter only has one photo ID, they can verify that photo ID with PilotoMail's ID validator. Then for the 2nd ID, they can provide another type of document from the list of acceptable IDs, which you can find here.

  1. Click Begin Compliance.

  2. The first verification is the Identity Verification or photo ID, click Validate using Stripe's identity service to verify.

  3. The system will take a photo of your ID, front and back, if applicable. You'll have to place the front of your ID in the rectangle to scan. If it applies, you'll be prompted to scan the back of your ID.
📌 Note: Make sure to have your ID on a flat surface and avoid direct light as it can reflect on your ID.

  4. Then, you'll be prompted to take a couple of selfies. Be ready, it's fast!

  5. The system will submit the information for verification.

  6. Follow the same steps for the Address Verification.

🚨 Note: While your Driver’s or Nondriver’s ID Card applies for both the identity and address verifications, you can't use them for both. Please choose which verification you want to use it for and provide another ID for the other verification.
